Privacy

Discretion is the product. These are the commitments PlayParlor is built on.

We collect almost nothing

An email address, a pseudonym, and a date of birth. Everything else — bio, interests, photos, location — is optional and under your control.

Your words are encrypted

Private messages, your bio, and your phone number are encrypted at the application layer (AES-256-GCM) on top of full database encryption. Free-text fields are never indexed or searchable.

Your location is never precise

We never store exact coordinates. Your position is blurred by up to a mile before it is saved, and other members only ever see a coarse distance bucket like “< 12 mi” — if you choose to show distance at all.

Photos live in a private vault

Images are stored in a private bucket with no public access. Every view goes through a personal, signed link that expires within minutes. Your Secret gallery is visible only to members you explicitly approve.

Invisible by default

Anonymous browsing, hidden distance, and hidden online status are all switched on for every new account. You decide what to reveal, not us.

Leave without a trace

One click requests deletion. Your account disappears from the platform immediately and all data is permanently erased after a 30-day grace period. You can export everything as JSON at any time. The single exception: content that is the subject of a serious-abuse report or a legal preservation duty is retained as long as the law requires, then erased.

Moderation, honestly stated

Messages and photos are not end-to-end encrypted: our safety systems and moderators can review content to investigate reports of abuse or illegal activity. That is the trade-off that keeps the parlor safe, and we state it plainly.

What we keep for safety — and for how long

When you upload a photo or send a message we record the network address (IP) it came from, encrypted, and automatically erase it after 90 days. It exists solely so reports of illegal content can be investigated and, where the law requires, reported (e.g. 18 U.S.C. §2258A). Uploaded originals are kept, encrypted, only until review completes — approval deletes them. If content is flagged for a serious violation, the related records are preserved for as long as federal law requires, and no longer.

Manage all of this from Settings — privacy toggles, location, data export, and deletion. Your legal rights are summarised on the Legal & Safety page.
